Habit stats

Every habit gets its own page.

Click a habit and its stats are already there: the streak, the rate, months of days and the charts that suit the way you track it. You don’t build any of it.

The Gym habit page: a 14-day streak, 72% completion, a year-long heatmap, and completion by weekday and by month.

One page per habit

The page fits the habit.

A yes/no habit gets a streak and a completion rate. A bedtime gets its average time and how much it wanders. Weight gets the latest number and how far it’s moved since the start. Something you’re avoiding counts clean days and slips.

Yes / noGym
Stat cards for Gym: a 14-day current streak, 72% completion and 54 times done in the last 90 days.
Time of dayBedtime
Stat cards for Bedtime: average time 22:59, 58% of days on goal, a consistency of ±31 minutes and the earliest night at 21:55.
NumberWeight
Stat cards for Weight: a 79.4 kg average, latest 78.4 kg (1.7 kg down since the start) and 66 days logged.
Something to avoidNo alcohol
Stat cards for No alcohol: days clean, the share of clean days and the number of slips.

The charts

One chart, one question.

Under the stat cards come the charts that make sense for the habit. A time habit never gets a chart of answers, and weight gets no weekday bars, because bars that start at zero make 80.1 and 80.4 kg look the same.

A year-long heatmap for Mood, each day colored Great, Good, Okay or Bad.

Up to a year of days

One square per day, for up to the last 12 months. A yes/no habit shows done, skipped and not done. A choice habit like Mood paints each day in the color of its answer, so a bad stretch stands out before you read a single label.

Weight over 90 days: a thin daily line and a thicker 7-day average that slopes down.

Trend, with a 7-day average

The daily values are the thin line and the 7-day average is the thick one. Weight moves half a kilo from one morning to the next for no reason at all. The average is the line to watch.

Bedtime for 90 nights as dots around a dashed 23:00 goal line, with nights after 23:00 in orange.

Every night, as a dot

For a time habit, each dot is the time you logged and the dashed line is your goal. Dots on the wrong side of it turn orange. You see how much the time moves, which an average hides.

Gym completion by weekday: Monday 46%, Tuesday 67%, Wednesday 85%, Thursday 92%, Friday 83%, Saturday 58%, Sunday a rest day.

By weekday

Completion for each day of the week. For a number it’s the average, for a time the average time. If Monday is the weak day, this is where you find out.

Gym completion for each of the last 12 months, the current month drawn pale.

By month

The last 12 months side by side. The current month stays pale until it ends, so a good first week doesn’t pass for a record.

Mood answers as bars: Great, Good, Okay and Bad with the share of days for each.

How often

For a choice habit: the share of days each answer got, in the order you set the answers.

Mood answers stacked for each day of the week.

Answers by weekday

The same answers, split by day of the week. Good for checking whether Mondays really are worse.

Dashboard

The Dashboard holds only what you add.

The habit pages cover every habit, so the Dashboard doesn’t have to. It starts with an overview of the last 30 days. The rest is up to you: the habits you check every day, a number you care about, two habits on one chart.

Four Habit cards: Gym with a 14-day streak and a heatmap, Sleep at 7.3 h average, Weight at 79.2 kg, and Mood, mostly Good.

Habit cards

The main number and the last few weeks, for the habits you want in front of you. Click one and its page opens.

Do you sleep better on gym days?

A Summary card can compare days. Pick a habit, then the habit it might depend on, and the card puts the days you did it next to the days you didn’t. It waits for 10 days on each side before it shows a number, because three gym days don’t prove much.

Summary cards do the plain sums too: an average, a total, a high or a low, a streak, days on goal, how often you gave an answer. Over every day, weekdays or weekends.

Summary card: sleep averages 7.5 h on gym days, 0.4 h more than on other days.Summary card: Mood was Great on 41% of gym days, 36 points more than on other days.

FAQ

Habit stats: common questions

No. Each page is built from the habit’s type and goal. A yes/no habit gets a streak and a completion rate, a time habit gets its average time and a dot per day, and so on. Change the goal and the page follows.

Yes. In the iPhone app, open the Dashboard tab, switch to Habits and tap a habit: the page has the same cards and charts as on the web. Habit cards and the new chart types work there too. If you don’t see them yet, close the app and open it again.

To the habit’s page. Heatmaps you never changed are no longer on the Dashboard, and nothing was deleted. If you changed one (its period, name or color), it stays on the Dashboard.
